AI risks & opportunities

  • Half day
  • For Boards
  • On site

A half-day session for the board on where AI creates risk and opportunity in your company, using your own systems as examples. Directors see what AI can and cannot do, which rules apply and which risks the board owns, and leave with ten questions to put to management.

Is this for you?

Who it is for

Supervisory and non-executive boards, or a board committee, that want a shared and practical starting point on AI. Directors do not need to know how a model works; they need to recognize a good answer from a non-answer. The CEO and CFO can join for the second part.

Group size

5 to 12 directors, plus the CEO and CFO if you wish.

Prior knowledge

None required.

Core objectives

  1. 01Understand AI in plain terms, through your company's own systems
  2. 02See where AI changes value and opportunity in your industry and company
  3. 03Know which risks the board owns: legal duties and the rules that apply, incidents, data, vendors and costs
  4. 04Practice telling a good answer from a non-answer when management presents its AI plans
Why it matters

AI is now on most board agendas, but the conversation often stays general.

Directors hear about pilots and potential, without a clear view of what it means for their company or what they are accountable for.

How it works

BeforeInterviews, the AI in use and a short pre-read
  1. 01 AI in plain terms, with a live demonstration
  2. 02 Opportunities
  3. 03 The risks the board owns
  4. 04 Testing management's statements
  5. 05 The board's AI agenda

The session moves from AI in plain terms, with a live demonstration using tasks from your company, to opportunities, to the risks the board owns, to an exercise with real statements from management, and ends with the board's AI agenda. Before the session, we interview the CEO and the CFO or CIO, list the AI already in use and send a short pre-read.

Deliverables

  • A briefing memo for the board's records
  • Ten questions to put to management
  • An overview of the rules that affect your company, including which parts of the EU AI Act apply
  • A first version of the board's AI agenda
