Board composition & evaluation
- Half day
- For Boards
- On site
A half-day workshop that builds AI and digital expertise into how your board assesses its skills, evaluates itself and plans succession. The board reviews its expertise confidentially, decides how much it needs given the company's exposure, and leaves with a 12-month plan to close the gaps.
Is this for you?
Supervisory and non-executive boards, or their nomination or governance committee, led by the chair. It suits boards that see AI on the agenda more often, or that prepare for a new appointment.
4 to 12 directors.
None required.
Core objectives
- 01Assess the board's current AI and digital expertise, confidentially
- 02Decide how much expertise the board needs, given the company's AI exposure
- 03Add AI questions to the board's annual self-evaluation
- 04Choose how to close the gaps: recruiting, education, an advisor or a committee
A board can only oversee what it understands.
As AI becomes part of strategy, risk and operations, boards need to know whether the right expertise sits around the table, and what to do if it does not.
How it works
- 01 The combined results
- 02 The expertise the board needs
- 03 Evaluation questions
- 04 A plan to close the gaps
Before the workshop, each director completes a short confidential self-assessment and we speak with the chair. In the session, the board reviews the combined results without individual scores, agrees the expertise it needs, sets evaluation questions and chooses how to close the gaps.
Deliverables
- A board skills matrix with AI and digital competencies
- A gap assessment without individual scores
- AI questions for the annual self-evaluation
- A 12-month plan for succession and education
